Princess Leia’s Iconic Bikini Sells for $175,000 at Auction

A golden bikini worn by Carrie Fisher in “Return of the Jedi” sold for $175,000 at a Heritage Auctions event. The seven-piece outfit, including hip rings, an armlet, and a bracelet, was purchased by an unidentified bidder. The costume, worn by Princess Leia when captured by Jabba the Hutt, is a cult favorite among “Star Wars” fans but has faced criticism for sexualizing Fisher.

Designed by Nilo Rodis-Jamero and created by Richard Miller, the outfit was intended to show Leia’s character growth. Despite Fisher’s discomfort with the costume, it remains one of the franchise’s most memorable outfits.

The auction also featured other high-value items, including a screen-used Y-wing model from “A New Hope,” which sold for $1.55 million, and various Hollywood memorabilia, totaling $5.9 million in sales.
