An older video of Kim competing in Azerbaijan went viral on social media, showcasing her cool demeanor and precision. In the video, Kim, wearing a backwards cap and shooting glasses, sets a new world record with a steely gaze and minimal reaction, which has garnered over 7 million views.
Images from her Olympic performance also gained widespread attention, with fans praising her unflinching expression, stylish black Fila jacket, Sauer shooting shoes, and a stuffed toy elephant she carried. One photo of Kim was particularly popular, being described as having “the most aura” ever seen in an image.
Kim, a first-time Olympian, will next compete in the 25-meter pistol event. She and Oh, who are roommates in the Olympic Village, have expressed pride in their achievements and their bond as teammates. Kim emphasized that she does not see Oh as a rival but as a sister, and they are both proud to represent South Korea on the Olympic stage.
