Vivienne Westwood’s Legacy: A Fashion Auction for a Cause

The legendary British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, renowned for her revolutionary punk fashion and provocative styles, will have her personal wardrobe auctioned off. This event allows admirers to own a piece of fashion history, with over 200 items including garments, shoes, jewelry, and iconic looks spanning four decades.

The live auction is scheduled for June 25 in London, complemented by an online sale from June 14 to 28. Christie’s auction house will also host a free public exhibition of these items from June 24.

Westwood’s commitment to activism is honored as the proceeds will support The Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières, and Greenpeace. Among the treasured items is the “Propaganda” look from her 2005-2006 Autumn collection, echoing her punk roots and intellectual influences.

The auction will also feature a navy blue ensemble from the 1983-84 “Witches” collection, anticipated to fetch up to £6,000. This event is not just an auction but a celebration of Westwood’s indelible impact on fashion and her dedication to social and environmental causes.
