Scottie Scheffler Wins Gold, Tommy Fleetwood Takes Silver in Olympic Golf

American Scottie Scheffler clinched the gold medal in the men’s golf competition at the Paris Olympics with a final score of 19 under par at Le Golf National. Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood secured the silver medal, finishing just one shot behind Scheffler, while Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama took the bronze.

Fleetwood shot a final-day 66 but fell short due to a bogey on the 17th hole. Despite the disappointment, Fleetwood expressed immense pride in becoming an Olympic medallist, describing the experience as “unbelievably special.”

Scheffler’s performance included tying the course record with a nine-under 62, highlighted by six birdies on the back nine. Matsuyama finished one shot behind Fleetwood, while France’s Victor Perez came in fourth.

Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and Spain’s Jon Rahm tied for fifth place. McIlroy made a strong push with five consecutive birdies but was set back by a double bogey. Rahm, who had a four-shot lead at one point, struggled on the back nine, finishing with a 39.

Fleetwood reflected on the achievement, noting the significance of standing on the podium and the pride he felt in his performance.
