Entering the final round just behind Kim at TPC River Highlands, Scheffler delivered a bogey-free 65, featuring five birdies to tie with Kim at 22 under. Kim’s 10-foot birdie on the last hole led to a playoff, which was delayed due to the protest. The green was promptly cleaned, and in the playoff, Kim’s bunker trouble contrasted with Scheffler’s steady par, handing Scheffler the title.
Scheffler’s victory adds to his impressive season tally, which includes wins at prestigious tournaments such as The Masters and The Players. His latest triumph solidifies his top spot in the world rankings and the FedExCup standings.
During the playoff, Scheffler’s approach narrowly avoided a bunker, while Kim’s near-perfect approach left him a 10-foot birdie chance. After the protest was resolved, Scheffler’s birdie attempt fell short, but Kim’s miss sent the match to a playoff.
