NSAC Penalizes Mayra Bueno Silva for Cage Jump After UFC 303 Loss

Mayra Bueno Silva faced a setback at UFC 303 when she lost to Macy Chiasson due to a doctor stoppage from a deep cut above her left eyebrow. Despite her eagerness to continue, Chiasson was awarded the TKO win. Following the fight, Silva jumped over the cage to speak with UFC CEO Dana White, expressing her frustration over the stoppage.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has penalized Silva for this action, withholding $2,500 from her $100,000 purse. Jumping over the Octagon is prohibited for safety reasons, although fighters often disregard this rule in the heat of the moment. Silva may also face an additional fine, to be decided at the NSAC meeting on August 27.

Silva’s penalty has sparked mixed reactions within the MMA community, with some fans criticizing the commission for not being equally strict about in-fight fouls. This type of suspension and fine is not uncommon in the UFC. For instance, Diego Lopes was fined $2,500 for a similar cage-jumping incident at UFC 300, and Arman Tsarukyan is currently serving a six-month suspension for punching a fan at the same event.
