Conor McGregor is set to make a dramatic return to the UFC, facing Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas. This marks McGregor’s first fight in the UFC octagon in three years, following a leg injury sustained during his bout with Dustin Poirier.
The welterweight fight, confirmed after UFC 300, will be a five-round main event concluding International Fight Week. McGregor, known for being the UFC’s first champion in two weight classes simultaneously, holds a record of 22 wins and six losses, with only one win post-2016.
Chandler, with a record of 23 wins and eight losses from 31 fights, has been prepared for the matchup, awaiting McGregor’s readiness. UFC President Dana White emphasized the importance of timing and McGregor’s prior commitments, praising him as a cooperative partner in the UFC.
Additionally, the event will feature an undefeated Irish fighter, Ian Garry, going against Britain’s Michael ‘Venom’ Page in a welterweight clash. Garry, with a 14-0 MMA record, will face Page, who has a 22-2 MMA record and recently won his UFC debut at UFC 300.
Page expressed a personal motivation to get in shape for the fight, citing Garry’s demeanor as an inspiration, despite never having met him. The upcoming UFC 303 is set to be a highlight event with McGregor’s comeback and the promising undercard matchup.
