When planning for a vacation wardrobe, consider a counterintuitive tip that could lead to significant savings. If your travels include Spain, it’s worth postponing your Zara shopping spree until arrival. Zara’s pricing in its home country is notably lower across their range, from women’s and men’s to children’s apparel.
A survey of various garments revealed substantial discounts, amplified by the pound’s strong performance against the euro. For instance, a white ruffled mini dress costs €27.95 in Spain but is marked up to £32.99 in the UK. Similarly, a “flowing voluminous” black dress is priced at €29.95 in Spain, in contrast to the UK’s £35.99 price tag.
The trend continues with men’s “balloon fit” jeans available for €35.95 in Spain but costing £45.99 in the UK. A chic double-breasted suit is €129.9 in Spain, whereas UK shoppers would pay £158.99. Even children’s clothing, like a ruffled gingham jumpsuit, shows a price difference, being €22.95 in Spain and £25.99 in the UK.
This phenomenon was first brought to light by Martin Lewis in 2015, noting that Zara’s sister brands within the Inditex group, such as Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear, and Uterqüe, share similar pricing strategies.
In response to inquiries about these disparities, a Zara representative explained that while their fashion offerings remain consistent across over 200 markets—emphasizing quality and design at attractive prices—the variations in pricing are influenced by factors like shipping costs and currency exchange rates.
