The Serbian’s participation in the Geneva Open came as a surprise, especially after his unexpected early exit from the Italian Open and a minor incident involving a bottle. Following medical clearance, Djokovic entered the Swiss tournament with a wildcard and began his journey with a win.
In other matches, Casper Ruud, the second seed and a clay-court expert, overcame Sebastian Baez in a three-set battle, taking advantage of Baez’s unforced errors. Ruud is set to face Flavio Cobolli in the semi-finals, promising more exciting tennis action from the Geneva Open.
