Maguire Takes Lead at Aramco Team Series; Hull Exits Due to Injury

Leona Maguire has taken the lead in both individual and team events at the Aramco Team Series in London, while Charley Hull had to withdraw due to a shoulder injury. Maguire’s impressive performance included a streak of birdies, placing her at the top with a one-shot advantage in the individual contest and tied in the team event.

Maguire’s round at the Centurion Club was marked by a series of birdies, leading to a seven-under-par score and a bogey-free 66. This put her ahead of Sarah Schober by one stroke. The Irish golfer’s consistent play also contributed to her team’s success, which she shares with Liz Young, Marta Sanz Barrio, and amateur Yana Wilson, tying for the lead at 14-under-par alongside the teams of Georgia Hall and Nuria Iturrioz.

Hall, who is four shots behind Maguire, acknowledged the challenging conditions but praised the team’s collective effort. Her team, including Hannah Burke, Lina Belmati, and Shane Hart-Jones, is also tied for the lead in the team competition.

Hull’s withdrawal came after she experienced shoulder pain from a fall, forcing her to leave the tournament with hopes of recovering in time for the upcoming Amundi Evian Championship. She expressed her disappointment and apologized to fans, her playing partners, and the event organizers for her early exit. Hull’s focus now turns to healing and preparing for the next major event on the golf calendar.
