Cam Davis Clinches Second Rocket Mortgage Classic Amid Bhatia’s Final-Hole Misstep

Cam Davis emerged victorious at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, finishing 18 under par, narrowly edging out competitors Aaron Rai, Davis Thompson, Min Woo Lee, and Akshay Bhatia. Bhatia’s three-putt bogey on the final hole was a decisive moment, allowing Davis to claim his second PGA Tour win, replicating his 2021 success at the same event.

Bhatia was in a prime position to secure his third PGA Tour title with a 32-foot birdie putt on the 18th but fell short, missing the subsequent par putt as well. This slip handed the triumph to Davis, who had set a challenging clubhouse target that remained unmatched.

Min Woo Lee and Davis Thompson both made significant strides, birdieing three late holes to vie for the lead, only to falter at the final hole. England’s Aaron Rai tied for second place, maintaining a steady performance after an early birdie.

Davis expressed a mix of relief and emotion over his win, acknowledging the support that helped him overcome recent challenges. Bhatia, reflecting on his last-hole performance, attributed the missed putts to the green’s challenging slope and his speed judgment.

Rai, tied with Bhatia after three rounds, considered the week successful despite feeling he could have capitalized better on the day’s opportunities. Cameron Young, alongside Eric Cole, Erik Van Rooyen, and Rico Hoey, finished tied-sixth, three strokes behind, after bogeying two of his final three holes. The event highlighted the fine margins that often decide golf tournaments, with Davis’s steady play ultimately securing the title.
