Starting the final round with a two-stroke lead, Yang maintained her position at the top throughout the day at Sahalee Country Club. Despite a brief stumble, losing three strokes over two holes, she finished with a level-par 72, securing a comfortable lead over the second-place trio of Jin Young Ko, Lilia Vu, and Miyu Yamashita.
Yang’s journey to victory included a birdie on the opening hole and a remarkable chip-in on the fifth, countering an early bogey. She navigated a challenging lie in a bunker on the sixth and extended her lead with a birdie on the eighth. Although she faced a bogey on the tenth, she quickly recovered with birdies on the eleventh and thirteenth, widening the gap to six strokes.
The lead peaked at seven before a three-putt bogey on the sixteenth and a double bogey on the seventeenth after a water hazard encounter. Nonetheless, Yang parred the final hole to clinch the most significant win of her career, expressing overwhelming joy and gratitude for achieving a goal that had eluded her despite numerous close calls in previous majors.
Other notable performances included Lexi Thompson’s recovery to a tied-ninth finish, Linn Grant as the top European player, and Charley Hull and Celine Boutier finishing over par, with Ireland’s Leona Maguire concluding the weekend four over. Yang’s triumph marks a milestone in her career, silencing any self-doubt and solidifying her status among golf’s elite.
